Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at the student research farm, department of Agronomy, School of Agriculture Science, Technology and Research, Sardar Patel University, Balaghat (M.P.) to study the performance of different levels of nitrogen on growth, yield and yield attributing characters of wheat during winter seasons of 2021- 22. Seven treatments were evaluated in Randomized Block Design with three replications. Results revealed that the application of 150Kg Nitrogen/ha i.e. T7 (NPK @ 150:40:40 kg/ha) significantly improved the plant height (88.59 cm), number of tillers/ meter square (114.60), number of leaves per plant (17.47) at 90 DAS, spike length (11.49 cm), grains per spike (41.73), test weight (43.69 g), grain yield (38.19 q/ ha) and straw yield (53.74 q/ ha) of wheat. The results indicated that use of NPK @ 150:40:40 kg/ha - 150% RDNwas the most effective for optimum growth and yield of wheat.
