Abstract |
|
This study aimed at designing and assessing a solar PV system for Dr. Hilla Liman Technical University to be connected to the grid. RETScreen Software was employed for the simulation over the guaranteed life of the system. Technical, Economic, and Environmental analysis were conducted on the Grid-connected solar PV system. The initial results of the study suggest that the design will be socially beneficial to the university community. It generated a yearly energy yield of about 162055.491 MWh. The predicted high energy yield confirms the high possibility of utilizing solar energy at Dr. Hilla Liman Technical University. Implementation of the proposed project is economically viable since it produced a positive NPV and also a BCR greater than 1. The designed PV system is also capable of saving up to 60059 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to 139672 barrels of crude oil given out by a thermal power station generating an equal amount of electricity which indicates a great environmental impact for the better world. The proposed work can be exploited by decision-makers in the solar energy area to design and analyse other institutional solar photovoltaic systems. |
