Abstract

The rapid rate of urban growth in India has heightened the difficulties related to efficient waste management. Conventional approaches to managing waste collection systems frequently lack efficiency, resulting in problems like overflowing bins, uncollected trash, and environmental contamination. This article introduces a solution that leverages Internet of Things (IoT) technology to enhance waste management in urban settings, specifically concentrating on the city of Pune. The system combines ultrasonic sensors, Arduino microcontrollers, and GSM/GPRS modules to develop an intelligent waste management solution. These intelligent bins can track their capacity and alert waste management officials when they are full. This automated system guarantees quicker collection, diminishes pollution, and enhances public health. Moreover, waste compaction technology is utilized to additionally prevent overflow and enhance space efficiency. Utilizing IoT and cloud data management, the system seeks to enhance waste management efficiency, lowering operational costs and minimizing environmental effects.
