Abstract |
|
Fog computing has been regarded as a proposed alternative for limitations of cloud computing in handling majority amounts of complex and temporally constrained data generated by emerging technologies such as smart cities and Internet of Things (IoT) environments. The goal of this paper is to evaluate and research fog computing in depth, focusing on its structure, applications and benefits with respect to cloud computing, including low latency and security. It deals with the challenge of achieving stability, security and energy efficiency. This approach involves analytical comparison of the different decentralized computing models presented in prior studies as well as survey of end users to assess its usefulness. Even though studies indicate significant benefits to Fog computing especially in scenarios where low latency is critical, there exists substantial amounts of research needed in achieving interoperability and standards. |
