High Speed Baugh Wooley Multiplier

Abstract

In this paper the architecture and Physical Design of Fast Adder based Baugh Wooley Multiplier is implemented and analyzed for power, timing and area. The multiplier is modified by replacing the ripple carry adder with kogge stone adder in the final stage. Kogge stone adder is fast adder which helps in speed improvement. The multiplier is analyzed for the operand size N=4 using 180nm technology. On the basis of synthesis results generated by HDL tool multiplier is compared with existing Baugh Wooley Multiplier designs with respect to power, timing and area. The synthesis results shows that modified Baugh Wooley multiplier is much faster than the existing multipliers.
