Abstract

This paper deals with the development of software for optimizing spur gear design using three objectives namely pinion diameter minimization, pinion volume minimization and power maximization. The power development involves Buckingham dynamic load approach in addition to the AGMA approach. The optimization is done through developed software, which avoids the tedious procedure of repetitive mathematical calculations (iterations) in the gear design procedure.
