Image Segmentation plays a vital role in image extraction and image processing. Edge based image segmentation took a lead in recent research for the complete analysis of the images for their processing. In last decades, various novel techniques have been developed and used successfully. Level set method is considered as the mother technique of all the times. Level set segmentation is the scheme of region based segmentation which aims at extracting the image domain by progressively fitting statistical models to the intensity, colour, texture or motion of each of the region. In this paper, statistical information is discussed in detail. Furthermore, an improved level set method have been developed which focuses on the shape based images extraction. The results of the paper discuss very good segmentation in difficult conditions. |
