Abstract |

Ammonium ions are the primary form of widespread nitrogen pollution in the hydrosphere and caused a remarkable increase of oxygen demand and biological eutrophication in local receiving water body. In recent years, various methods for ammonium ion removal from wastewater have been extensively studied. This paper reviews some alternate methods and briefly introduces the chemical precipitation method for the removal of Ammoniacal nitrogen from wastewater. Chemical precipitation is one of the innovative physico-chemical processes as it removes nutrients and produce precipitates which contain hardly any toxic substances and can be used as the fertilizer. |
