Abstract |

This paper presents a novel type of Z-source buck-boost matrix converter which has unique features that cannot be obtained in traditional matrix converter. The proposed converter employs Z-source network to buck or boost the input voltage. The converter employs safe commutation strategy which eliminates voltage spikes on the switches without need of a protection circuit. |
