Abstract

The selection of most suitable substrate for an antenna is a matter of prime importance. This is because the limitations of an antenna such as high return loss, low gain and low efficiency can be overcome by selecting appropriate substrate for fabrication of the antenna. The substrate properties such as dielectric constant, loss tangent have a pronounced effect on the antenna characteristics. This paper presents the comparative analysis of the return loss of a sierpinski carpet fractal antenna for FR4 and Rogers RT/duroid substrates on IE3D Software.
