Abstract

Nowadays climate change especially global warming is one of the serious environmental issues. The evidence of global warming has raised humans' concern regarding environmental problems, and a part of global warming results from inappropriate waste management. Waste is an important contributor to co2 emissions in the world. It is therefore necessary to reduce the amount of biodegradable municipal waste going to land fill as to prevent or reduce the negative effects of land filled waste on the environmental and human health. There is a real need for alternative waste treatments to deal with the above requirements. The purpose of this research paper is to discover the best alternative treatment for reducing municipal waste going to land fill and to assess the alternative treatment from the view point of carbon foot print.
