Abstract

In this study, we have observed the effects of bagasse ash and lime on expansive soil. The Bagasse ash sample is collected from “Ashtapur Phata, Pune” at sugarcane distillery and soil sample is collected from farm at “Mula road, Pune”. Free swell index test was performed on the soil which concluded that it is a highly expansive soil. Tests that were carried out showed major improvement by adding bagasse ash and lime. Free swell index is significantly reduced by adding bagasse ash and lime. There is ----% increase in specific gravity of soil. There is rise in MDD and OMC by ---% and ---% respectively by adding the bagasse ash and lime. Unconfined compressive strength also increased ---%.
