This project paper aims at detailing procedures to estimate and reduce the effect of Chromatic Dispersion, which is one of the primary causes for the loss of information in optical communication networks. Estimates of the optical power for various lengths of optical fibre, as well as an analysis of the optical spectrum will be presented, along with a comparative analysis of the Bit Error Rate and the Eye Pattern in networks with and without mechanisms to reduce the effect of Chromatic Dispersion. |
