Abstract

Indoor positioning systems have gained popularity for supporting location-specific services in indoor environments. Indoor positioning technology highlights the inefficiency of global positioning system inside a closed environment for example, buildings. GPS does not perform well in urban areas where there will be lot of buildings, wall, tree and underground structures. The signal from the GPS satellites is too weak to penetrate the building structure so it makes GPS unusable for indoor localization. Based on above facts this paper aims to brief readers regarding various method for indoor positioning and technological advances in this field.
