Abstract |

When curved surfaces are in contact, the contact area of contacting bodies is very small as compared to their radius of curvature. Due to this contact area the contact pressure is very high and cannot be neglected. This contact pressure depends on load, contact area, material properties. This paper determines the contact pressure for varying load, for different material and for different contact area using hertzian contact stress theory analytically and then results is verified using finite element analysis. |
