Abstract

Diseases restrict the growth of plant, decrease the productivity of crop and results in economic losses in agricultural. Image processing is the best way of detecting and diagnose the diseases. Initially the infected region is found, then threshold can be calculated by applying Otsu method on a color component to detect the disease. Different features are extracted such as color and shape. Based on the featcher extracted the leaf disease is detected. The present study recognizes the need for developing a fast, low cost and reliable leaf disease detection technique that would facilitate advancements in agriculture. It describes the basic structure of digital image processing technique that can be used for developing disease detection under field conditions. The paper also figures out some potential losses in yield of crop due to various diseases.
