Abstract |

This paper presents an algorithm for minimizing the generator fuel cost and active power loss based on voltage stability using Genetic algorithm. The generator fuel cost and active power loss are mitigated by the management of reactive power via FACTs (UPFC). The optimal power flow is computed using N-R technique subjected to operational and stability constraints. The developed algorithm has been implemented on the modified IEEE 30-bus system and compared with Particle swarm optimization technique. The obtained results indicate that the Genetic algorithm (GA) provides better optimized solution than Particle swarm optimization technique (PSO). |
