A design based on time delay for high resistance measurement has been proposed. A capacitor is charged through the test resistor and the time delay is noted. The method makes use of two key technologies, an ultra-low power comparators and high precision time to digital converters. The ultra-low power comparator which requires few picoampere of input bias current is used to measure the voltage across a capacitor. The time to digital converter which can measure a few tens of picosecond delay is used to measure the charging time of a capacitor. The method can be shown to measure up to 100Giga Ohms with an accuracy better than 2ppm The method is an alternative to measuring high resistance using expensive equipment pico ammeters. |
