Abstract |

This paper consists of fault location model for underground power cable using microcontroller. The purpose of this project is to get the distance of underground cable fault from power station in kilometers or meters. The ohms law’s concept is being used in this project.When any fault occurs like short circuit, open circuit etc., there will be voltage drop depending on the length of fault in cable which varies, since the current changes. A series of resistors are therefore used to show the cable lentgh and a dc voltage (acting as a source) is fed at one terminal and the fault is detected by detecting the variations in voltage drop using a microcontroller to make the compulsory calculations so that the fault distance is displayed on the LCD display. |
