Abstract

Trimming is one of the finishing operations in manufacturing process. To remove the extra material of the edge surface of the component is called trimming operation. Deep drawing is one of the manufacturing process used to manufacture parts like pen cap, bowls etc. After deep drawing process extra material is remained on the edge of the component. Removing of this material by conventional trimming machine is very tedious process. Which leads to labour fatigue and time required to trim the one component is more due to this productivity is decreases. To overcome this problem automation is implemented in this conventional machine by using PLC, stepper motors, sensors, and various drives. Due to this automation production rate is increased and cycle time/ product is reduced. Number of component can be trimmed on this automated trimming machine. This report is giving the information of construction of automated trimming machine, list of elements required to this project, design idea of machine, costing of the machine and end result by implementing this automation on productivity.
