Abstract

The present project work is designed to model seepage analysis of Ujjani dam by using finite element based software GEOSTUDIO sub product . GEOSTUDIO software is capable to perform analysis such as, stress-strain, seepage, slope stability, dynamic analysis. SEEP/W ,a subproduct of GEOSTUDIO is a finite element software which can simulate the movement and pore-water pressure distribution within porous materials like soil and rock. In present work the seepage of water through earthen portion of Ujjani dam ,an earthfill cum masonary dam in Maharashstra is computed and phreatic line is simulated for single chainage. The observed actual field results are compared with results obtained by GEOSTUDIO software sub product SEEP/W. The input data given to the software are the dam geometry and its material properties. After comparison of actual field data with software generated results calibration of material properties is made on basis of minimization of error . The flownet is generated by SEEP/W software showing velocity vectors, phreatic line, equipotential line, stream line . Also the seepage discharge (flux) and exit gradient are computed by the software. Validation of any model is made by comparing observed and simulated results . If this values shows good coincidence then this model can be recommended for practice. It shows the data regarding the observed seepage and simulated ones obtained by seep/w and the relative error. Performance of the model is assessed evaluated on the basis of statistical parameters, i.e. mean error, root mean square error and model efficiency.
