Zero Tilt Verification of Rectangular, Angle Shaped Footing, for the Smaller Side, using Finite Element Method

Abstract

The paper presents a new type of a foundation on which the analysis has been done. This type of foundation is named as “The angle shaped footing” named after its design to resist eccentric loads. The shape of the angle shaped footing has been considered as rectangular and the analysis has been done, keeping in view the shorter side of the footing. The analysis has been done by using the simulation software package ANSYS. The graphs have been plotted and the results have been drawn. The results show that the footing is able to resist a considerable amount of eccentric load towards the shorter side when provided with an angle shape.
