Abstract

Foundation is that part of the structure which is in direct contact with soil and play a vital role in overall stability. This paper presents the results of laboratory model loading test for the bearing capacity of a rectangular footing supported by geogrid reinforced silty sand. One type of geogrid used with various numbers of layers with type of footing (i.e. B/L equal to 0.5 and 0.33). based on the model test results, the bearing capacity increased with increase in number of geogrid layers.
