Dry Sliding Wear, Tribological Properties of LM6 Alloy

Abstract

In the present work study, the effect of 2.32% silicon on the room temperature mechanical properties and tribological wear behavior of aluminum alloy have been investigated under dry sliding wear. In this tensile test were carried out and found that abrupt increase in tensile strength as the diameter increases. Effect of alloy composition, wear pressure and sliding speeds on LM6 alloys at 23ºC have been systematically studied. The result suggests that with the increasing wear pressure and sliding speed in all experiments wear rate increases.
