Abstract

The power quality is suffering from the alternative energy injection into an electrical grid. The performance of the turbine and also thereby power quality are determined on the idea of measurements and the norms followed consistent with the rule of thumb laid out in International Electro-technical Commission commonplace, IEC-61400. The measurements of power quality are the active power, reactive power, voltage sag, flicker, harmonics and electrical behavior of change operations and these are measured consistent with national/international tips. Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is employed to manage the facility flow within the transmission systems by dominant the electric resistance, voltage magnitude and phase. This controller offers blessings in terms of static and dynamic operation of the facility system. A Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is associate degree device for providing fast-sensation on high voltage electricity transmission networks. There is a unceasingly growing demand for alternative energy generation capability. This case forces the revision of the grid codes needs, to stay connected throughout grid faults, i.e., to ride through the faults, and contribute to system stability throughout fault condition. In a very typical fault condition, the voltage at the purpose of Common Coupling (PCC) drops below eightieth like a shot and also the rotor speed of induction generators becomes unstable. During this methodology, Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is employed to boost the low voltage ride- through (LVRT) of wind energy conversion system (WECS) and to damp the rotor speed oscillations of induction generator underneath fault conditions. By dominant the UPFC as a virtual electrical device, its aim to extend the voltage at the terminals of the wind energy conversion system (WECS) and thereby mitigate the destabilizing electrical force and power throughout the fault. The WECS is taken into account as a fixed-speed system, equipped with a squirrel-cage induction generator. The simulation results show that UPFC will improve the LVRT and rotor stability of the WECS.
