Abstract |

Today concrete is most widely used construction material due to its good compressive strength and durability. Portland cement concrete takes approximately 24 hours to achieve structural or drive on strength and one month to reach final strength. When using Portland cement, you will need more working time to complete your projects. Now a days time being the important aspect of life, so there is a demand in quick constructions which is possible with the concrete which is known as the rapid setting concrete, which sets and attains maximum strength within minutes. Minimizing lane down-time is of key importance when repairing concrete pavements in high traffic volume areas. As a result, rapid setting concrete are in great demand. Many such products are available; however, they differ widely in chemical composition, workability, durability, and cost. The following proprietary rapid setting materials were chosen for laboratory evaluation (Rapid Set CONCRETE MIX). This concrete mixes contained both fine and coarse aggregate. Techniques used to place and finish the construction were similar to those used with conventional Portland cement concrete. Laboratory results include the compressive strengths, flexural strengths and Gilmore Needle set times of materials mixed. In this present study the OPC is replaced with Rapid Setting cement - 60% and magnesium oxide - 40% by mass of cement (2%, 4%, 6%, 8%&10%). |
