Abstract |
Most of the pollution problems created in power systems are due to the non linear characteristics and quick switching of power electronic equipment. Power quality problems are getting stronger as a result of sensitive equipment will be additional sensitive for market competition reasons; equipment will continue polluting the system. Active power filters have been developed over the year to solve these problems to enhance power quality. In this paper, RES (Renewable Energy Source) is taken as solar energy is integrated with the grid to supply active power by grid interfaced inverter. Here the inverter act as the shunt active filter which is employed to eliminate harmonics, maintain at unity power factor, supply active power to the grid and compensate reactive power. The result is analysed in MATLAB as (1) Without filter in which the system integration with power electronics devices such as diode bridge rectifier and non linear load which results harmonics (ii) With filter, inverter which acts as shunt active power filter inject the current based on control algorithm. This injected current cancel harmonic current in source side and compensate the reactive power. |
