Cloud is a huge platform for computing and storing data. With exponential increase in number of users and size of their data, data deduplication is much needed for Cloud Service Providers (CSP). In cloud as far as the security is concerned it is better to store data in encrypted form. Due to poly access nature of cloud, the resources of cloud are been distributed to several entities at any given instance. Due to this, there are always possibilities of duplicate data at cloud storage. This eventually increases complexity including complexities of access function. Moreover the loss of control over their own personal data which leads high data security risks and data privacy leakages. By keeping the unique document of the duplicate data, cloud providers can reduce their data transfer and storage cost. There are many systems that provide deduplication but they fail to provide it on encrypted data and also there are issues regarding ownership of the data. This paper has discussed various developments, their advantages and limitations which can provide a perception into future research directions. |
