The main objective of this project is to develop conventional concrete and simultaneously motivate the people about the light weight concrete.in the present venture the natural course aggregate is partially replaced by light weight course aggregate(LWCA) such as volcanic pumice aggregate.in this study an attempt has been made to study the mechanical property of light weight concrete M20. For this purpose along with a control mix, the natural coarse aggregate is replaced with light weight coarse aggregate such as pumice up to 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%and 100%. The sets of moulds were prepared to study the compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength. Each set compress of 3 cubes, 3 cylinders, and 3beams. Trial slump test was carried out at the beginning in the fresh state. 7 and 28 days compressive test, tensile and flexural strength test were performed in the harden state. The results obtained are interesting and useful compared to the results of conventional concrete. The main fortes of this concrete is to low density and thermal conductivity, ultimately there is reduction of dead load, faster building rate in construction and lessen handling cost. |
