To improve the performance of power system it is desirable to maintain the voltage profile and also the transmission line losses should be within the limit. In this paper, the potential capabilities of shunt FACTS device such as Static Compensator (STATCOM) for reactive power injection and its optimal location has been investigated. The methodology is based on reactive power sensitivity approach. The effectiveness of STATCOM has been tested and demonstrated on 14-bus sample system. Results are obtained by using MATLAB programming with and without FACTS |
