A Tribological Study of Mineral oil with Addition of HBN Additives

Abstract

Hbn nanoparticles with an average size of 80-150 nm were mixed in SAE 10w30 oil. The tribological properties of the Hbn nanoparticles as an additive in SAE 10w30 were calculated with help of a four-ball tester. The results show that these Hbn nanoparticles exhibit good performance in anti-wear and friction-reduction & load-carrying capacity. The wear scar diameter is measured with help of Image acquisition microscope.The results indicate that a boundary adition of Hbn in percentage the wear reduces sum extent but if percentage increase its effect on load carrying capacity
