An alternative method for the measurement of inspiratory pressure in anesthesia machines programmed in pressure-controlled mode is proposed using a commercial pressure gauge, where five anesthesia machines of the same model were evaluated by carrying out the measurements in five pressure intervals for each of them. In order to perform a comparison and validation of the proposed method, a gas flow analyzer was used as the gold standard, and based on the results, it is shown that the proposed method is a reliable alternative of lower cost than the common procedures and it has greater accessibility to health centers that have a limited financial budget. Among the measurements obtained with the two measuring instruments used it exists an average difference of -0.51 cmH2O and it was verified that there is agreement between them by the method of Bland-Altman. |
