Abstract |
Maraging steel belongs to a family of metallic materials with extremely high mechanical strength and good toughness, while agehardenable stainless steels also have good corrosion resistance. The present work involves, evolution of nanostructure C300 grade maraging steel and investigation of heat treatment, mechanical properties and nanostructural development of a new maraging stainless steel. The characterization of the nanostructure was performed by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Mechanical properties were evaluated by Rockwell-C hardness and Charpy impact tests. The heat treatment resulted in an ultimate tensile strength of over 2484 MPa combined with good impact toughness and good resistance against over-aging and relatively good corrosion resistance as well. |
