Equilateral Triangle Monopole Antenna for Dual-Band Applications

Abstract

A Equilateral triangular monopole antenna utilizing a notch in the ground is presented for dual band operations. First band is ranging from 3 GHz to 5.16 GHz and 5.34 GHz to 14 GHz for reflection coefficient less than -10dB. Use of triangular notch on the ground plane and the patch provides here the better impedance matching and increased bandwidth. We use ANSOFT High Frequency Structure Simulator (ANSOFT HFSS 13.0) which uses Finite Element Method (FEM) for its processing. The monopole is fabricated on FR4 epoxy dielectric substrate.
