Abstract |

While transmitting digital images from one location to another, noise is often induced while image is in the channel. Some factors introduced impulse noise (salt & pepper noise) while some other introduces Gaussian noise. Combination of impulse and Gaussian noise is called as mixed noise. Presently median filters have been introduced to filter out noise in digital images but they work better on impulse noise, there performance is not that much good on mixed noise. In the proposed work, fuzzy logic based switching median filter is applied to remove mixed noise. Noise detection is performed by using fuzzy logic and filtering by using median filter. It is seen that fuzzy based noise detection works better than non-fuzzy based noise detection and it is successfully justified by using accuracy parameters like PSNR (peak signal to noise ratio). |
