This paper presents the design and implementation of a GSM based remote operation of an energy meter which gives the solution to power theft, consumption control, auto billing and payment, data logging and Manpower reduction in power distribution and management. The aim of this project is to provide energy consumption measurement and its united billing scheme. The materials and method deployed herein is the use of a micro-controller unit that continually monitors the meter interfaced with a GSM MODEM with a dedicated SIM for remote operations. The way used to carry out this project is the principle of serial communication with the help of embedded systems. The meter provides respective billing Information on a LCD screen. |
