The Importance of Active Legislation in a State- Helping Women Secure Their Right to Enjoy Freedom

The objective of this paper is to review the importance of active implementation of safety laws in a state to help the other 50% of the population, i.e., the women in a country enjoy their freedom. According to UNESCO estimates, 130 million girls between 6 and 17 years of age are out of school and 15 million girls of primary-school age. Reasons can be many. Every day, all over the globe, girls face barriers to education caused by reasons that include-poverty, cultural and societal norms and practices, poor infrastructure, violence, lack of safe environment, etc. The larger question that arises here is that is education enough to secure women and girls their Right to enjoy freedom? Though education is a very important factor in the empowerment of women but without the conditions of a safe environment, this education can’t help women secure their freedom. Similarly, legislation in any country is essential to provide equal platform for women to realize their freedom and true potential. So many women constrict themselves and restrain their freedom because of their safety. Therefore, it is important on the part of the state to provide strict safety laws and punishments to those who create chaos, fear and unsafe conditions in the society. With good legislations, the empowerment of women can truely be realized.
