Due to rapid development in I.T. Sectors, Business Process Outsourcing and Knowledge Process Outsourcing companies and other industries Pune City is rapidly developing. Due to opportunities for the employment many people from all over Maharashtra are migrating to Pune. There is drastic increase in population of this city in last 5-6 years. There are some villages near Pune such as Wagholi, Ambegaon, Lohagaon, Yewalewadi, Dhayari, Dehu, Hadapsar, Kasnand etc. There is rapid growth of new industries, I.T. sectors, other companies, hotels, institutional, residential, commercial complexes in such villages. The increase in population causes increase in the quantity and changes in characteristics of wastes in these villages. We work on present status and future challenges of solid waste management in Wagholi. |
