Abstract |

This paper deals with the productivity improvement of steering gear in an automotive industry. Due to increase in market demand for steering gears, the productivity has to be improved in order to balance the demand and supply. The cycle time of the existing CNC turning machine is relatively high when compared to the other machines in the production line. Though the purchase of extra equipment will increase the productivity but the cost of procuring new machine is high. Hence enhancement of CNC turning machine is an economical and sensible option. Various methods of enhancements have been studied and the usage of cycle time reduction has been found to be the most effective method. |
