Abstract

Road traffic accidents (RTA) are responsible for 1.2 million deaths worldwide each year. RTA will become the 3rd largest contributor to the global burden of diseases after ischemic heart diseases (IHD) and depression. The main reasons were found to be rash driving, narrow curves, poor visibility, rain and snow and heavier traffic at night time than the rest of the day. Curve may be a blind, S- curve or U pin curve. The main reasons are lack of signboards, convex mirrors, retaining walls and light poles at critical spots. This want is resulting in recurrence of accidents. On hilly road drivers may unable to see opposite side vehicles which create accidents, so smart poll radar system can reduce accidents.
