Impact of Fixture Design Methodologies, Systems on the Manufacturing Processes: A Review

Today, due to custom made demands from the customers there is need have developed & manufactured such product. To fulfil this demand manufacturing systems must capable to handle this product variation by use of appropriate fixture. So, as the important part of manufacturing system improvement, fixtures must satisfy performance requirement that lead to fulfil product variety. Not only for the milling but also in turning, boring, welding and grinding operations fixtures are now plays vital role. So, there is need to study importance of fixtures in manufacturing industries. This paper discusses achievements in the development of fixture design methodologies, systems and applications along with benefits to industry. The paper also presents a Literature Review to show applications of fixtures and improvements in manufacturing industry. This paper concludes with specifying the important contribution of fixture systems in attaining the success.
