Abstract |
This paper presents the experimental investigation of mechanical properties of concrete using sandstone dust as partially replaced with sand. Sandstone dust is obtained as a by-product during the mining of sand-stone. As part of research work, the experimental investigation has been carried out to check the possibility of using the sandstone dust as a partial replacement of sand in concrete. There were M20 and M25 grade concrete made using sandstone dust. The proportion of sandstone dust added to replace sand were 20%, 30% and 40% of the sand by weight. The main objective of work is to determine workability and basic properties of fresh concrete and mechanical properties of hardened concrete. Concrete made with 20% and 30% replacement of sand with sandstone dust gave comparative higher compressive strength and flexural strength for both grade of concrete. Workability parameters were on par for both grades of concrete for constant water-cement ratio. |
