Abstract |
|
With all the advances in science and technology, the environmental degradation is an ever increasing problem which in a other way enhances the search and development of technologies to help in clean-up of organic and inorganic contaminants such as hydrocarbons and metals. Another means of remediation of environments contaminated with these pollutants is the use of bio-surfactants and bio-surfactant-producing microorganisms. The diversity of bio-surfactants attracts the man to develop various groups of compounds for potential use in a wide variety of industrial and biotechnological applications. The purpose of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of advances in the applications of bio-surfactants and bio-surfactant-producing microorganisms in various technologies. |
