Abstract |

Past studies proves that Concrete filled steel tubes as efficient lateral load resisting systems. Its high initial stiff-ness, strength, energy absorption capacity as well high load carrying capacity due to the composite action be-tween steel and concrete are some of its advantages. In buildings CFST was used as column; at present the use of CFST in bridge construction is limited due to the lack of practical and economical connections. Recent re-search has addressed this limitation through the study of column to foundation connection and column to cap beam connections. This paper presents the result of the numerical analysis of column to cap beam connection. The nonlinear analyses are performed to study the effect of embedment depth, thickness of steel tube. The stiff-ness & strength performance of different specimens under both axial and cyclic loading are studied. |
