By this project the company will be benefited and will overcome from the errors they are accommodating at present; such as currently they are assembling clip into clip holder manually with the assistance of mallet. Clip holder made of plastic when undergoes with uneven forces applied by mallet causing defect in clip holder as well as in clip .Thus by making semi-automated clip insertion machine the clip holder and clip will undergo through even forces thereby eliminating the defects and accidents as well as reducing production time and increasing productivity. The CAD model of semi-automated clip insertion machine was generated as per the data collected by the company, objectives of the project, references and design calculations. After the CAD model generation, Finite Element Modelling and Finite Element Analysis was carried out. The linear static analysis results shows that the stresses are well within the safe limit, hence the design is safe. This will improve product quality. Automation not only results in higher production rates than manual operations it also performs the manufacturing process with greater uniformity and conformity to quality specifications. Reduction of fraction defect rate is one of the chief benefits of automation. This will also reduce the wastage of material, which plays an important role in product cost. |
