Earthquakes are the most unpredictable and devastating of all natural disasters, which are very difficult to save over engineering properties and life, against it. Hence in order to overcome these issues we need to identify the seismic performance of the building. Shear wall is the most commonly used lateral load resisting in high rise building. It is very necessary to determine effective, efficient and ideal location of shear wall. In the present work G + 10 multi Storey building is analysed by providing shear wall at different positions. A building structure G+10 with plan dimensions as 20 m x 30 m for each storey height 3 m is considered for which the model of required size in STAAD PRO V8 Software is created. The shapes of shear wall are rectangular and straight. After assigning the supports and properties in the member it is provide the seismic definition in Software and appropriate Zone factor, Importance factor, Response reduction factor for different earthquake zone were selected. Loads such as gravity load and earthquake load was applied as per Indian standards as shown below. - For dead load = IS 875-1987 part 1 - For Imposed load = IS 875-1987 part 2 - For earthquake load = IS 1893-2002 part 1 After the application of loads, combinations of loads as per IS 1893-2002 part 1 were applied. The structure is analysed in STAAD PRO V8 software and results for different models of structure are evaluated. |
