Abstract |

Research and development in the field of UAV has been getting high encouragement lately because of its versatile applications. For modern mapping requirements the topographic mapping process can be used. Basically a topographic map is characterized by large-scale detail and quantitative representation of relief using contour lines but in the past, a variety of other methods were being used. These maps depict detail ground relief (landforms and terrain), drainage (lakes and rivers), forest cover, administrative areas, populated areas, transportation routes and facilities (including roads and railways), and other man-made structures. Topographic maps have multiple uses in the present day: including geographic planning or large-scale architecture; earth sciences and other geographic disciplines; mining and other earth-based endeavours; civil engineering and recreational uses such as hiking and reinterring. In this paper we intent to introduce and discuss in detail, the process of topographic mapping by using UAV remote sensing. |
