Abstract |
|
Flow around a circular cylinder is a fundamental fluid mechanics problem of practical importance. It is more complex when bodies that still keep in their external flow properties the combinations of the flow properties of simpler bodies like flat plates, cylinders, ellipses. The dynamic characteristics of the pressure and velocity fields of unsteady incompressible laminar and turbulent wakes behind a circular cylinder are reviewed. Several engineering applications including offshore structures, bridge piers, and pipelines can be modelled as cylinders. The aim of this study is to describe flow around a cylinder based on simulations done by various researchers. |
