Abstract |

The need to improve the energy efficiency in homes, buildings and to provide accurate revenue to the supplier has aroused the necessity of automated meters in today's world. The consumers need to be more aware of their own energy consumption and the supplier needs to have a proper balance between the energy supplied and the revenue received. For facilitating an autonomous monitoring of electricity consumption requires a metering platform for the recording and processing of electrical data. The emergence of IoT along with the advancements in communication field, has offered the chance to establish energy efficient smart devices, systems and cities. A module for allowing the measuring and monitoring of the electric power consumption of an individual appliances is developed for the purpose of enhancing the day to day life by giving accurate measurements to both consumer and servicer, for both optimum energy consumption and correct billing of the said consumption. In this paper specified survey on several Smart Energy Meter systems, the difference in utility, cost and usability is discussed. |
