Movie Recommendation System using Popularity Recommender-Based Approach

In the current digital world, with the growing amount of technologies, a huge amount of data is currently available. A huge amount of data is consumed by the users and this results in searching through lots of pages to find the right content that matches the user’s interest. This can be in cases like searching for books, movies, videos, articles, job posting, news, etc. A recommendation system is hence the need of the hour. A movie recommendation system thus is used in cases of movies which can recommend items to users. Several approaches exist like - simple recommendation, popularity-based recommendation, collaborative filtering, content-based filtering demographic-based filtering and keyword or metadata-based filtering. In this paper, we consider one such recommender system - the popularity-based recommender approach. Based on the popularity of the movie, a particular movie will appear in the recommendation charts. The efficiency of this proposed methodology is verified by experiments based on The Movies Dataset.
